Hi,
I'm new to RIXML, and have a question about AssetClass. The AssetClassEnum values (Equity, Fixed Income, Currency, Commodity) make sense. But how come their sub types are described in AssetTypes and SecurityTypes? For example, I would have thought that the sub AssetClass-es of Commodity would be Gold, Silver, Steel, Aluminium (etc). So if I was creating a peice of research on Gold, I would created a document with AssetClass of Commodities-->Gold. Is there no heirarchy like this in RIXML? What was the rationale behind it? What do people think? Regards, Rohit |

Hello, Rohit. Thanks for your interest in RIXML. I suppose the only answer I can offer is that it was expedient to place sub-classes for all asset classes into a pair of enumerated types, rather than to break them out into a more hierarchical form. In designing our schema, we attempted to find a good compromise between simplicity and strict structuring.
